Totally cool ending. Absolutely loved it! You made me laugh out loud and I still have a big smile on my face. That was a great story and I thoroughly enjoyed it - thanks!

Oh, and all hail the Great Doggit!

oh that's made my absolute week! that you liked it and found it funny... i liked the the line about doggits nose poking from the bracken but i was worried the silliness detracted from the "horror" aspects!

thank you for staying the course!

The silliness absolutely did not detract - it was perfect IMO. Especially as you primed us - the readers I mean - to see it about to happen. And I love that image of Doggit surrounded by sheep. That's such a wonderfully dystopian metaphor!

Shades of 'Good Omens' as well maybe. I don't know if you've read that book but I'm thinking of the hound from hell who is sort of transformed into a loyal friendly boy's dog and the whole antichrist plan goes Pete Tong. Kind of like imagining (Just) William Brown as the antichrist.

Oh I like that! "All hail the Great Doggit indeed!" I suspect that the world wouldn't be so bad with dogs in charge.

I’m guessing you’ve been working through Nick’s back catalogue. Quite right too - it’s a very good back catalogue. And you reminded me how much I really liked this story.

Slowly, but surely. My "free" time evaporates, so I need to steal seconds here and there. I'll be delving through your back catalog, too - I really like Ms. Katie!

Evelyn’s back catalogue is awe inspiring. I have not really delved into it as much as I should have by now to my eternal shame- but I will get to it in the end.

If you get there in the end, the shame won't be eternal. 😉

Unless you're a cat, that is.

Or a Paschat come to think of it. Obviously if cats had opposable digits then humans are done for.

Have you seen that movie 'Cats and Dogs'? with Jeff Goldblum and Michael J. Fox doing the voice of the main doglet character? I loved that film.

You're right, though, if animals were in charge the world would be a better place.

Unless some of them start thinking that some animals are more equal than others lol!

Depends on the dog (and/or cat) - sometimes they get along okay. But yes, if cats had the opposable thumbs, they'd definitely be in charge, and we'd all be relegated to meal prep and tummy scratching duty.

I don't see many movies. The closest theatre is about 45 minutes away and ticket prices have gone haywire. The last movie I saw was "Happy Feet." 🐧 We don't do cable, either, too expensive for lots of "stuff," but not much worth watching. We've been watching a lot of older stuff on the Internet Archive (free! no ads! wonderful!!). If I ever get the opportunity, I'll try to check out "Cats and Dogs," especially since it features the voices of two of my favorite actors.

Nonhumans are smarter than humans on a lot of ways...

I'm probably a bit like you then when it comes to movies - I don't think I've actually been to the cinema since we left England and that was 15 years ago! We have a little arty French cinema in our local small town (pop. 3000), but the French have an annoying habit of dubbing everything into French. It's not that my French is rubbish, just that it's simply not the same. We also can't really afford streaming services like Netflix so a few years ago I discovered some of the semi-legal free ones on the Internet. So I have seen a few more recent movies and been able to catch up a bit on ones I've missed over the last 15 years.

I did used to love going to the cinema though. Alas. Ah - but instead now I just write my own movies, like with the Katy stories. I've got so many great movies in my head which no one else will ever be able to see, at least not in the same way. Like Katrina, for example, is an actress amongst other things and made something like 50 movies that don't exist in this world, and I've seen them all in my head.

Yes, I am not a normal person!

Now that’s a super word and I love it. Thank you for flattering me! Flattery, as they say, will get you everywhere.

But who would want to be "normal" in that case? Your own personal movie theater in your head? That's super awesome!

Absolutely true! I'd hate to not be me, oddly enough.

Perhaps it's similar for all genuinely creative people. We're not normal. In a good way.
