You're guessing correctly! Thank you for posting your work. If/when you get around to publishing, I'll join the queue to buy a copy.

i'm building up the resolve to just work on a novel, but its such a lot more work than short stories and microficiton and in a way its less enjoyable - like with the Legacy, I feel it has almost dried up my creativity, just focusing on getting that one story where I wanted it to go - and some of the chapters have not filled me with glee - they just feel... a bit Meh - well its part of the journey but not great...

In my opinion, you definitely have the writing ability and imagination necessary to create a novel. Hopefully you can think of a plot that you'll enjoy and characters you want to people it with (bad sentence structure, but I'm too tired to write properly!). I don't mean to imply that it's not hard work, but hopefully the right plot will make it less of a slog. I sincerely hope that you do write a novel someday, I would definitely love to read it!

so kind of you to say Jeannine... ive got 3 novels partly started... Jiro Jones is set in one of them. Entropy theory on here is another one...so its just choosing the one to go with and finishing the plot structure...

The 60's and 70's were a tough time to grow up in the States, too. It's strange to remember that we grew up in a time when child abuse was considered to be normal, when bullying was completely acceptable, when it was not only okay, but expected, that the "different" would be persecuted by the "normal" kids. School could be a torture chamber outside of classes. You caught the experience and described it well. I was one of the different ones and this story stirred some unpleasant memories sleeping in the back of my own skull, which of course is a compliment.

Wow! Incredibly well etched memories of some rough experiences of childhood among some rough people. Each of these anecdotes is a story in itself that could form several stories in a book.

hello reena

thank you for reading The Bully and taking time to comment. Its the best reward for a writer isnt it!

it wasn't my intention to write any non fiction but this was a submission to the writing club that i am in and the prompt was "your school days" and I couldn't turn it into sci fi or horror! I found it carthartic to confess the guilt of my worst childhood memories and realised there were a lot of abuses of all kinds, all around me.

This is worth exploring and writing more fully for many reasons. And clearly it was swimming right beneath the surface waiting to be asked out so it could tell us these stories. I hope you will write them more fully. All the best!!!

This is one great autobiographical piece. I felt like I was right there with you, felt your shame and your powerlessness. Thanks for sharing it with me!
