very kind! wasnt sure where it was going but the images were strong. glad you liked it...thats the whole point of it all!
still have to get Legacy VI finished... need a clear run...they tend to be done in one go once ive got my candles lit and my pipe and glass of madiera..
oh.. and that joke is one of my faves... when anyone staaaarghts the pirate jokes off I get all excited waiting for the right moment to drop the "No...thatll be the C" line.
Thanks keith! so glad you liked it. was supposed to have a bit of the chicken corn and fox puzzle in it as to how the boat crews were endlessly ferrying themselves to their own deaths... but i couldn't quite formulate it as i went along... so the end is a bit of cop out and its clichéd to death by pirate tropes but i enjoyed it all the same.
the original idea never quite worked its way out of the finger tips...so a different ending came out almost last minute... "bully beef" you say...hmmmm
Part of me has pirate noises ringin' in me 'ead. It's not speak like a pirate day yet though, I don't think?
Aaaargh.
i was indeed typing with a parrot on my shoulder, aaaarrrgh
That’ll be rat a toouey, no doubt?
straight from the sinking ship into the frying pan, me hearty.
In all this excitement I forgot to say how much I liked the story, by the way…

Accessories are always helpful, I find. Especially wine. In moderation, obviously. Moderation isn’t something I’m particularly good at, though.
Damn fine writing, Nick, I could smell the sea and the sweat and then it all gets a bit unpleasant because I never gots me sea legs…
I love it when stories unravel. Follow the rope and the anchor, I say!
Cap’n, you’re mad.
but my belly be full...
*rows faster*
row as fast as you likes...the anchor's still down...
Luuuuuv it. Reminded of The Lighthouse movie scene “Bad luck to kill a seabird…”
Joke for ya: What’s a pirates favorite letter?
You say R? Well, everyone thinks that but it isn’t.
They never get that far in the alphabet because the spend too much time on the C.

Awesome story! You left just a hint of wriggle room at the end, but I'm pretty sure them boys are doomed...

That's what it sounded like to me!
