This piece is in memory of my uncle Keith, and was inspired by a prompt of "Music" and learning of others that never got the pain relief they desperately needed for years.
Thanks Tom. He was quite a character. I felt i had to get my thoughts down. it was an emotional time and one contemplating life and what we do with our time here
This was a beautiful homage, Nick! Thank you for sharing. I love stories of old grumpy fellows who fawn over cats. Reminds me of Dr. Johnson and Hodge. 😊
thanks for reading and your kind words! Knowing old keith he would have just grumbled about "airing the dirty laundry" or shouted at me that i had forgotten some other NHS transgression or other. he was a very particular chap. I inherited his excellent lightsaber for which im very grateful
That's a very poignant and heartfelt tribute - I'm hoping he would've loved it.
Hi Evelyn
Keith would have said something like
"whatchoo want to go saying all that bollocks for then?" bless his 'eart.
Which, I presume, would've been his way of saying thank you!
more or less, yes !
That’s beautiful, brother. Well written. Feel like we know the guy a bit now.

Keith lives on in your words. What more could anyone ask for, tbh.
thanks for reading SM and taking time to comment.😎🙏
I loved it.. I could picture the house, the cat, everything. The tight, affectionate prose took me somewhere - and made me feel warm. That's a skill.
